About Me

Joe Neman joined Veritas High School as an English teacher in the fall of 2008. Since beginning his role, he has spent the last seventeen years teaching a variety of courses, including English 10, English 9, English 12, Journalism, Speech, Drama, and Creative Writing.

Joe’s lifelong devotion to education has been highly awarded, granting him the opportunity to travel all over the world, including two years teaching on the South Pacific island of Samoa. In 2014, he was selected to participate in the Japan-U.S. Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development, sponsored by Fulbright. In 2017, he received the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship Award. The following year, he took part in the U.S. Department of State's Teachers for Global Classrooms program, through which he taught in Indonesia. Additionally, he was awarded the Fund for Teachers grant in both 2013 and 2020, allowing him to travel extensively throughout Latin America and South Africa.

Aside from education, Joe enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He finds immense joy witnessing his children learn, flourish, and grow. He also enjoys reading and writing—having authored and published two books—camping, cooking, and exploring new places through travel.

“One of my most cherished experiences with Seeds of Health has been their support in turning my dream of establishing a Travel Club into a reality nearly a decade ago. My vision was ambitious, yet they believed in it and helped bring it to life. I have had the incredible opportunity to watch my students walk along the Great Wall of China, admire the Mona Lisa at the Louvre in Paris, and zipline through the lush jungles of Costa Rica. This journey has been nothing short of amazing, and I am eagerly anticipating our trip to Japan in the summer of 2026.”
